As a prominent infertility specialist with deep experience in patient care and at the top levels of public health policy, Valerie Montgomery Rice is a hands-on leader who’s also an expert at reinventing complex organizations to meet the challenges of the moment.

The sixth president and CEO of Atlanta’s Morehouse School of Medicine, Montgomery Rice was the first woman in history to lead the institution. Between 2014 and 2021, she served as the school’s dean and president. She founded the Center for Women's Health Research at Nashville’s Meharry Medical College, one of the nation's first centers dedicated to studying diseases that disproportionately impact women of color. She was appointed to the President's Committee on the National Medal of Science by President Joe Biden in 2022 and to the Georgia Commission on Women by Governor Brian Kemp in 2021. In 2023, the National Medical Association awarded her the Scroll of Merit Award.
