Leah Huyghe

Patient Advocate
From 2017 to 2024, Leah Huyghe battled chronic Lyme disease, experiencing her body's gradual shutdown. In this research-backed talk, she shares her journey through this invisible illness, exploring the identity shift – and post-traumatic growth – she experienced while fighting the parasitic bacteria. She discusses how the healthcare system currently fails Lyme patients, and the consequences of these failures. But as she discovers on her journey, life’s most difficult challenges often yield the most valuable lessons: More than a survival story, Leah’s talk is a call to turn our own suffering into our greatest teacher. Leah discusses a pathway for all of us to transmute pain into resilience.
