Antonia Romm
Climate Educator and Activist
Antonia Romm grew up learning about climate change from her father, Joe Romm, who is in the same field. As a child, science fascinated her, especially astrophysics and environmental science. She dreamed of changing the world for the better, and when she came to middle school, she realized she could. She co-founded Climate Club D.C. and, along with the California-based organization Mobile Climate Science Labs, took her robust STEM-based climate action to search for energy-wasting light using infrared camcorders to buildings all over Washington D.C., especially high-profile ones. Her organization's recommendations have changed the inefficient lighting in the Smithsonian National History Museum to efficient LEDs and the organization's energy survey method has been adopted by the Montgomery County (Maryland) Public School Department.
