Just as how a prism refracts light to reflect the beautiful spectrum of colors within, we hope to address and analyze topics, and share valuable experiences through our theme, "PRISM."
Let our speakers be the prism to your thoughts, and let yourself be the canvas of their ideas. Come and join us as we dive into the true colors of each topic, and get ready to be inspired by a spectrum of perspectives.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, TEDxIUHWNarita 2022 will be held as a hybrid (online + in-person) event. We will be allowing our campus students and faculty to join us in person for the premiere of pre-recorded speeches, while we ask our off-campus attendees to join us from YouTube Premiere and Zoom. Nonetheless, we hope for this unique opportunity to allow our audience to share their unique perspectives with fellow attendees worldwide. Let us be your chance to ponder and reflect on the harmony between you and your surroundings.

How many times have you listened to your professor’s lecture or stared at the pages of your textbook, but found that the information just wasn’t sticking? Isn’t it frustrating when you feel that you are doing all the things you’re supposed to do, but you are still not making any progress with your learning goals? Maybe the real problem is that you need to be told not just what to learn, but how to learn. In her years spent working as an English-language educator, Claire Marie Ryan has come to believe that many students have never been taught how to learn.

Like the beautiful rays of light that beam out from a prism, each person has the potential to radiate their true colors and achieve their ideal identity. Perhaps growing into our best selves is one common goal that we all strive for throughout our lifetimes. However, as we go through comparisons, peer-pressure, and subjective judgements from our surroundings, our fragile identities may fall apart, before we even get to bloom in society. Maria Kikawa-Cimino, a medical school freshman, explores the idea of growth through the lens of self-worth and self-reflection.

"I think I won't be able to do this.” "I think I am going to screw up." How many times have we silently thought like that in our lives? How many opportunities have we missed because of those self-sabotaging doubts? Win Soe Moe, a first-year IUHW medical student from Myanmar, explains how doubts could be overwhelming by tracing his personal experience as well as the stories he has heard from others. He has made a challenge: "If there is a letter B in the word douBt, then why can't we say bye to it?"
