Ever since Marissa was little, she's loved talking. From acting to singing to poetry, she instantly gravitated towards any way to express words. As she grew up, specific social justice issues resonated with her and she wanted to use her voice to make a difference, especially when it came to sex education and the lack thereof. It is for these reasons that she is ecstatic to be speaking at this Tedx event. She hopes you enjoy her talk and will look at sex ed a little differently after today.

The center of Sofie’s universe is Vancouver, Canada, where she has spent her life so far running the forests and streets, cherishing the raindrops and tall trees, taking ferry rides to see her grandpa, picking apples with her mom, watching sunsets with her friends, and going to the best school in the world. This fall she will leave to study civil engineering, energy systems and architectural design at Stanford University.

Susan Kiconco is a speaker and advocate who is passionate about helping people see and discover their own unique potential. Throughout her volunteering experience, she has been able to connect with many young people and learn more about the different challenges they face. After witnessing how the pandemic had changed the world, Susan realized that the future of education lies in the power of young minds to have the ability to adapt to such circumstances. This inspired her to seek new ways to improve the current education system in order to prepare this generation for the future tomorrow.
