Jaein Kim
Painting the ordinary: Why you shouldn’t worry about having no talent
Jaein has been inseparable from art since a very young age. She often ran wild, pouring her imagination and creativity into pages of sketchbooks. Intuitively, she knew from a young age that she would be unable to escape the frame of art as she grows up. Jaein, however, still meanders in her life as a junior at Saint Paul Preparatory Seoul, despite her enthusiasm for art. She wonders if art will be able to provide her with a nice career and fortune if she does not regard it as a mere pastime. She tries to figure out what her true talent is and if art, a companion she has had her whole life, is the right road for her. In this TED talk, Jaein wants to share the times she struggled searching for her talent, hoping to deliver a message that having no particular talent should not be a burden.
Lani Park
You are an ordinarily unique person: Don't think that you are ordinary because there are unique parts in you
After coming to high school and preparing for college, Lani Park realized how ordinary she was when she used to consider herself unique. Her ordinary high school life triggered her to ponder about her future major and career. She had too many questions in her life, but she did not have answers for them. When she turned her perspective to ordinary things in her surroundings, she started to develop her own uniqueness. Whenever she met a person with low self-esteem, the only way for her to comfort them was to love herself. However, after developing her own uniqueness, she realized how to tell them. “You are an ordinarily unique person.”
