Theme: What Now?

Our Leadership Team has chosen to organize a youth event to empower young minds to share their ideas on our theme which especially applies to the youth. We chose this theme to internalize and reflect upong information about global matters, but also incite reaction and innovation. The idea is that speakers will choose an idea which has been an area of struggle for the world, such as unsustainable business models, and reflect on a period of change, such as the global pandemic, and ask themselves 'What Now?', meaning, with all that we've lived through, this theme will allow us to collectively brainstorm, organize and implement realistic solutions that will mitigate the problems that society faces today, such as creating a green business model to function better in a post-COVID world. Our theme encourages speakers to tackle the notion of creating lasting change: since we all leave footprints on our planet, we want to inspire the audience to mold their footprint into positive change. Carmen Campa

Carmen Campa is passionate about helping others and improving the world around her. Her interest in science and history coupled with her love of travel and culture give her a unique perspective on the world. Her current pursuits include medical school, writing, and trying to be more environmentally friendly.

Daniel Sheth

Daniel Sheth is a young innovator and is passionate about science. He was born in New York City and was raised there before moving to Madrid, Spain. His time spent in a sleep-away space camp and his involvement with the Climate Reality Leadership Corps is a small part of his passion and fascination with climate change and deep space exploration. His future vision of success is to work in the field of space exploration. In his talk, “Stopping the Climate Crisis”, Daniel outlines the complex problems and solutions that climate change poses to the human race. Both realistic and practical, his ideas speak to the immediate need to act but also address many of the disadvantages of doing just that. His pragmatic approach to solving climate change issues makes his talk engaging for youth and adults alike.

Elizaveta Konopleva

Elizaveta Konopleva sees her future in this world as full of opportunities to inspire others to change their lives for the better and do good. Her passion for helping others extends into her free time as she is an active volunteer and social justice activist. Her plans for a better future include starting her own ‘green’ business and building a more sustainable world.

Jimena Roces

Jimena Roces is a young leader with a passion for teaching others about helping our planet and helping themselves. Her ambition for a future in science and medicine shapes her analytical perspective on the current state of our environment and world health.

Leah Rosow

Helping others is central to Leah Rosow’s identity. As an ally and advocate for those voices less heard and most hurt, she hopes to take her passions into the field of psychology. Her experiences living in the USA and Spain have shaped her understanding of social injustice and inequality.

Manuel Lara

Manuel Lara is set to challenge commonly held ideas about poverty and what humanity needs to do to save the world. Having spent most of his life in Peru and Brazil, he has seen firsthand the dramatic impact of poverty on humans. Manuel is passionate about economics and international relations, and he feels strongly about helping those among us who are most vulnerable. His plan to make our future brighter includes working for an intergovernmental organization or an NGO after attending university.
