Bright Tsagli

Born in Tema, Ghana, Bright Tsagli migrated with his mother to Europe at age six, in pursuit of economic opportunities. His chapter begins with hers. Life was difficult and became more challenging after Bright joined his mother in Germany. After an unsuccessful career in playing professional soccer, he relocated to the United States. But finances became a burden after enrollment at Bronx Community College, and reality crept up on him like a hungry wolf: but he survived. After taking time away from school to work and pay off his debt, he successfully transferred to Brown University as a Jack Kent Cooke Scholar. Bright will be speaking about how he came from a place where there was no chance so he had to do the impossible.

Huayu Wang

Born and raised in Beijing, China, Huayu Wang later moved to New Delhi, India at the age of 14. These experiences exposed her to a lot of different ways of thinking and seeing things. In her free time, she loves to simply relax and reconnect herself to nature. Huayu hopes that her talk can invite the audience to re-contemplate the relationship between human beings and nature.

Martin Gil del Real

Martin Gil del Real from La Ciudad de Panamá loves video games, especially if related to Nintendo and thinks game soundtracks are better than film soundtracks – he will fight you on this. Martin will be talking about his personal experience with dance and how he used it to explore his identity as a pseudo-Latino American.

Sarang Mani

Sarang Mani is studying engineering and economics at Brown University. Sarang is originally from Bangalore, India, and have lived all over India and also in Berlin, Germany. At Brown, he is mostly involved in things related to space and sustainable finance. In this talk, will be talking about the trend towards democratization/decentralization in the aerospace industry, and how his personal experience with the Brown Space Engineering team reflects that trend.

Tania Gutierrez Espinosa

Tania Gutierrez Espinosa is from Murfreesboro, TN. She highly values empathy and responsibility, as from a young age, she often took care of her little sisters and worked multiple jobs during school. At the end of her high school career, Tania discovered how much she enjoys writing poetry and prose, a passion she is still exploring at Brown. Tania's fun fact is that she loves cow paintings and expressing herself via fun outfits. Tania will talk about shifting perspectives on immigrants coming into the United States via a personal narrative and collected thoughts.

Yusuke Suita

Yusuke Suita is a Ph.D. student in the Department of Molecular Pharmacology and Physiology studying cancer biology. After finishing high school in Japan, he moved to Kansas for college, then completed a master’s degree at Brandeis University. Just prior to beginning his Ph.D. studies at Brown, he embarked on a trip to twenty different countries spanning five continents. Yusuke will talk about how diversity is an ethos that enables people to inhabit a mindset of empathy toward others.
