Hannah Weber
Hannah Weber was born and raised in Boston, Massachusetts. She attended a high school
just outside of Boston called Noble and Greenough School. She now studies at
Dartmouth College in New Hampshire in the U.S. Hannah is majoring in Government/Political
Science and double minoring in International Studies and Geography. Her focus is on the implementation of democracy, human security, and international development.
Hannah has been involved with the Kliptown Youth Program since 2005 when she
originally visited Kliptown with her high school. Since then she has returned
in 2007, 2010, and is now living in Johannesburg for two months (2011). Hannah
has also dedicated a lot of her time to helping deploy the XO computers from One
Laptop Per Child to those in South Africa. The first deployment took place in
2007 at KYP with 100 XO computers, the first 100 in South Africa. With a continued
relationship with the members and leaders of KYP Hannah has enjoyed watching the
program grow and flourish, and witnessing how the computers make a difference in
the lives of children each day.
Shelley Bragg
Shelley Bragg is a South African who currently works and lives in Shanghai, China. She has a Bachelor of the Arts degree, majoring in Literature, but has worked in many different areas of business over the last decade. Shelley has been based in Shanghai for almost 3 years, working in Marketing, and is also involved in a number of fundraising initiatives for NPOs and NGOs globally, particularly in South Africa and China. She has worked with the Kliptown Youth Program in Soweto for almost 2 years, on a number of different ventures, and coordinated their Gumboot Dancing Tour in China, in 2010.
Thulani Madondo
Thulani Madondo, is the founding director of Kliptown Youth Program (KYP which was founded in the year 2007 as a response to the social challenges. He led the first deployment of One Laptop Per Child (OLPC) in South Africa. His knowledge in the OLPC computers earned him trips to MIT, Rwanda and Swaziland. The reason why Thulani is part of OPLC team in South Africa is that he wants to continue bridging the gab between technology and townships children because its what they need to be competent in today`s world of technology.
