Theme: A tudás almája // The apple of knowledge

Nézzünk körül - és vegyük észre, mennyire megváltozott a minket körülvevő világ az elmúlt évtizedek során! Az információ korában élünk, és sokan még azt is hozzáteszik, hogy ez egyúttal a tudás kora is. Mégis, talán ma a legkönnyebb elbizonytalanodni és elveszettnek érezni magunkat … a jövő talán kiszámíthatatlanabb, mint valaha.

Az információ - bár könnyen elérhető - nem feltétlenül visz minket közelebb a tudáshoz és a bölcsességhez. Lehet itt az ideje annak, hogy újragondoljuk az információhoz és a tudáshoz fűződő viszonyunkat?
Hogyan tudunk például felkészülni egy olyan jövőre, amit nem tudunk megjósolni? Milyen tudás tesz képessé arra, hogy sikeresek legyünk a XXI. században? Mit jelent a tanulás ebben az évszázadban - és mit érdemes tanulnunk? Hogyan házasíthatjuk össze sikerrel a tudást, a bölcsességet és a felelősséget?

Ezekre a kérdésekre keressük a választ közösségünk tagjaival és meghívott előadóinkkal, akik segítségével egyfajta csillagtúrára indulunk - a tudással kapcsolatos központi kérdésfelvetéstől külön-külön irányokba távolodunk el, hogy onnan visszanézve más perspektívából láthassunk rá fő témánkra.

Look around! Take a moment to appreciate how much the world has changed in the last few decades. We now live in the information age and - many would claim - a knowledge economy. Yet it is easier to feel lost and uncertain about the future than ever.

But our future matters, both individually and collectively. And although information may be available in abundance, it does not necessarily seem to take us closer to knowledge and wisdom. Is it time to rethink our relationship with information and knowledge?

How can we prepare for a future we cannot predict? What kind of knowledge is fit for the 21st century? What does learning mean in the 21st century context, and what is worth learning? How can we infuse knowledge with wisdom and responsibility?

These are the questions we'd like to explore with the help of our community members and a few invited speakers.

Ádám Schmideg

He graduated from Philosophy-Mathematics at ELTE, and has worked as information specialist and coach for many years. After finishing therapy training of the London School of Counselling and Psychotherapy Gestalt, he took part in the foundation of Hungarian Gestalt Association. He is currently working in a start-up as agile coach.

Ágnes Tóth

Customer Service Director of the Budapest Metropolitan University

András Kepes

It is almost impossible to sum up his life in three sentences, so we don’t even try it here. But we hope, that the reader saw or heard one of the radio of the TV series as Gondolatjel, Stúdió, Apropó, Desszert, Világfalu, or Különös történetek, or one of his reportages, talks, novels such as his newly published, very personal Világkép. His work was rewarded with many awards, including Pulitzer Prize in Hungary. Since 2008 he has been a professor at Budapest Metropolitan University. He was a dean of the Faculty of Communication and Art from 2010 to 2014, currently he is the chair of the Metropolitan Council of Art.

András Ákos Szabó

As a young man seeking his ways and means, he got in a group that few people can look in. He got in radical, far-right groups. Nowadays he looks at it as a lesson and he is a student of Human Resources Faculty of Budapest Metropolitan University. His personal mission is to create values that take us further.

Dömötör Kővágó

He graduated from Media Design at Budapest Metropolitan University, and currently engaged in the production of visual content in both advertising and film productions. However the road here was not obvious at all. Dömötör was driven from video games - that is often considered as a waste of time - and the surrounding gaming community to visual communication and his current career.

Emese Pancsa

She is currently MA student at the design faculty of Metropolitan University of Budapest. She’s concerned about Social Responsibility and her works are focusing on the connection between body and soul. Due to this she works with tools used by disabled and old people. Her mission is to highlight how much design can give, how it can help people’s everyday life. As much as we understand Emese’s mission, so tragic was her road to get here, from which her inspiration is derived.

Gergely Szűcs

He has been a Master of Science in Communications. He is currently a lecturer at Budapest Metropolitan University and a trainer. He has been working with the METU for many years and has been a chairman of the Student Government for several years, and is currently part of the university's blood circulation. Depending on the occasion, he is a professional moderator, presenter, and nowadays he is a unique Facebook LIVE reporter. He considers himself as a man obsessed with self-expression.

Lilla Kurta

She has been writing for her age of 15, at the age of 18 she led her own troupe who also played her own plays. From the world of fan-fiction she found herself in London, where she went from castings to castings, she got close to studios and actors, such as Marvel Studios and Robert Downey Jr.

Máté Szekeres

He has graduated from Photography at Budapest Metropolitan University. He has been the official photographer of the Hungarian Organ Transplant Association. The ambition of documentation of the transplants has been rooted from Mate’s years of high school, as he spent many times among patients, doctors and in hospitals due to his mother’s profession as a nurse. He has been looking for themes as a reporter. This year he got Andre Kertesz Grand Prize on the 35th Hungarian Press Photo Contest, with his photo series named „Kidney patient”.

Péter Hajdu

He finished his diplomatic studies at Corvinus University of Budapest, then spent two years in China. He was a volunteer, learned languages and took European Union’s language exam, which was succesfull only for only 24 people from 1000. He finished the trainer faculty of Metropolitan University of Budapest. Now he works for an international organization and achieves more and more success in the field of public speech.
