Theme: Breaking Barriers

TEDxNMIMS aims to utilize TED’s education style to create a thought provoking event for the community at NMIMS, Mumbai. With this event, we aim to create more than a day filled with information and hope to challenge established thinking and encourage the community to look at new ideas. The talks presented will be aimed at instilling the power of ideas and opening the community to the potential of renewed thinking. We hope that our TEDx will be a meaningful experience for both the community and the organizers.

Ashok Kavi

Co-Founder and Chairperson, The Humsafar Trust

Mr. Ashok Row Kavi is an Indian Journalist and one of India’s most prominent LGBTQ rights activists. With a career spanning 18 years in journalism, he has worked in newspapers such as Malayala Manorama, Sunday Mail and The Daily. In 1990 he founded Bombay Dost , the first gay magazine in India. He is presently the founder-chairperson of Humsafar Trust, an LGBT and health services NGO. Mr Kavi was the first Indian to openly talk about homosexuality and gay rights, and is actively involved in providing a formal platform for homosexuals. He also runs several intervention programs for HIV/AIDS and STDs in Mumbai and has been supporting similar upcoming groups in the country.

Greg Moran

Co-Founder & Chief Executive Officer, Zoomcar

Mr Greg Moran is the Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Zoomcar. Prior to co-founding Zoomcar, he studied at USC’s Marshall School of Business where he was the Founder and President of the USC Energy Club. He has dedicated his entire career to sustainable development across the globe. Over the past six years, he has worked in various financial, strategic and operational roles within the International Energy and Infrastructure Sectors. Greg enjoys playing the piano and golf, and is deeply passionate about competitive eating.

Prakash Rohera

Director & International Trainer, The Redwood Edge

Mr. Prakash Rohera is a highly accomplished International Trainer and Speaker, with an extensive work experience of 30 years. He carries a wide ranging corporate experience of 11 years and 19 years of experience as a Corporate Trainer. His desire to train led to his founding of “The Redwood Edge”, a corporate training consultancy in 1997. He has conducted over 2600 workshops in more than 25 countries across all levels starting from frontline executives to Senior Management. His efforts and excellence have been awarded at several dignified platforms and he has won Rajiv Gandhi Shiromani Award, International Achiever’s Award and Shiksha Bharti Puraskar among many others.

Ragini Kumar

Executive Producer, Star Sports

Ms Ragini Kumar is an anchor/media professional, and currently the Executive Producer at Star Sports. She has been working in the media industry as a Prime Time Sports Anchor for 14 years and has over 8 years experience in broadcast journalism and live news production. She has anchored with NDTV, Times Now and Star Sports. She has worked actively on covering the IPL with Sony and Delhi Daredevils.

Rahul Easwar

Author & Activist, Indian Philosophy

Mr. Rahul Easwar is a Philosophy Author and Activist. He has written three books on Indian Philosophy and has conducted lecture tours in over 12 nations on Indian Philosophy. He had pursued a global leadership program in London School of Economics. He had been one of the youngest panellists in National News Media, and has been featured on BBC, Al Jazeera and Indian Media channels such as Republic, Times Now and NDTV from the age of 22. He is a Guinness World Record holder as an Organizer for “the Largest Human Christmas tree”. He has conducted campaigns for tribal rights and is known especially for his efforts for the Malayaraya Tribal Community.

Sreekant Lanka

Head of Programmatic Account Strategy at Google, India

Mr. Sreekant Lanka is the Head of Programmatic Account Strategy at Google, India. A seasoned executive, he has successfully led and delivered on complex strategic programs in several geographies and dynamic programs. He holds an MBA from INSEAD, France and has worked previously in Singapore, London and the United States. Mr Lanka finds true passion in nurturing talent, which is marked by his teaching engagements at leading business schools in sales and marketing.
