TEDxStockholm proudly presents “Crossroads – the beginning of every direction”, our most ambitious event ever.

You will be immersed in live talks, granted access to exclusive TED video material, provided live entertainment, served a light meal and refreshments, and given the opportunity to mingle with like-minded people from all over the world! #tedxroads16 will showcase ideas worth spreading – join us along this journey across geographical, musical, physiological, and visual boundaries to find common ground.

Live on stage is a diverse mix of speakers who will bring to life different perspectives, threading together seemingly unrelated concepts which will converge to create a new synergy and new direction on how to perceive the world. The event is from 3 to 8 pm at Münchenbryggeriet (T-bana: Mariatorget) in Stockholm on November 21, 2016. Secure your ticket, available from 299 kronor.

David JP Phillips

David JP Phillips is an international speaker, author and coach in Modern Presentation Skills. His training and material are based on neuroscience and biology which makes his deliveries very hands on, practical and motivational. He is best known for his seminar How To Avoid Death By PowerPoint, delivered at TEDxStockholm in 2015.

Emma Frans

Dr. Emma Frans is an epidemiologist and researcher in the fields of pharmacoepidemiology and psychiatry at the University of Oxford and at Karolinska Institute in Stockholm. Truly passionate about knowledge sharing, Emma is a renown science communicator even outside Academia. Besides her widely followed Twitter account, counting tens of thousands of followers, she writes columns for one of Sweden’s biggest newspapers, where she examines health claims.

Eva-Karin Gidlund

A researcher on the effects of exercise on a molecular level, Eva-Karin Gidlund works at the Department of Physiology and Pharmacology at Karolinska Institute in Stockholm. Eva-Karin’s passion for sports and human biology research has awarded her several scholarships, and made her a frequent lecturer and public science profile outside of the academia. Ultimately, her passion is what makes her an excellent TED-profile. A personal motto of Eva-Karin’s is “little is better than none.”

Julia Romanowska

A professional percussionist, Julia Romanowska has a PhD in Medicine from the Karolinska Institutet in Stockholm. Julia also has a background in software development, analytics and management consulting. As a certified leadership trainer, she has designed leadership courses that include artistic elements. Through her cultural salon, inspired by the salons littéraires of the past, she developed a special art form – a collage of words and music. This was the origin of the art-based leadership concept called Shibboleth, which she evaluated in a cross-disciplinary study at KI and the Swedish Defence University.

Jurgis Didžiulis

A thriving chameleon on the Lithuanian music scene, the artist Jurgis Did has experimented with various music styles and entertainment formats. He has written hits, won awards and represented Lithuania in the Eurovision song contest. Yet, Jurgis doesn’t consider himself a musician. The Colombian-Lithuanian that studied Political Science and Business, has experience in political campaigning, corporate education, media-consulting, and many other things “social”. With music as his tool, Jurgis explores social engineering between people, seamlessly mixing his passion for music and social phenomenon. Jurgis is out to prove that breaking the boundaries of participating, can make the artistic experience more powerful.

Milène Larsson

Journalist and documentary filmmaker Milène Larsson is a senior producer and reporter for VICE and VICE News. In her documentaries, Milène explores issues related to gender, migration, and LGBTQI and civil rights, showing the often damaging effects of rigid norms and borders. Among her most-known works are the award-winning films “Young and Gay in Putin’s Russia”, “Israel’s Radical Left” and “Istanbul Rising”, as well as the British Media Awards winning documentary series “Europe or Die”. Milène also investigates gender norms and women’s social status around the world for the women’s interest channel Broadly. She has appeared on HBO, CNN, BBC, Al Jazeera, MSNBC and Sky News, and helped produce ‘VICE’ on HBO, an Emmy nominated news-magazine show.

Truls Nord

Truls Nord is an artist working with film, photographs and installations, with the intention to inspire, encourage or push his audience to lead a personal, economical and ecological sustainable life. In his 2011 project Tactile Photography, Truls developed an innovative method that allows people without sight to experience both content and atmosphere in photographs and other complex images. Truls is a co-founder of FLUST, an organization promoting artistic diversity, accessibility and civic engagement through collaborative projects.
