Event Overview:
Join us for an inspiring TEDx Women event in the heart of the Upper East Side of New York City. This exclusive gathering will take place on the stage of a prestigious private school, providing an intimate and elegant setting for an evening of thought-provoking talks and meaningful conversations.

In a world where success is often celebrated without recognizing the journey that led there, our theme, "Rethinking Failure," aims to reshape how we perceive setbacks and challenges. We will explore the narratives of resilience, growth, and transformation that redefine failure not as an endpoint but as a crucial part of the path to success.

Our diverse lineup of speakers brings together experts from various fields, each with unique insights and and experiences related to "Rethinking Failure."

Audit: Tasneem Husain - How to transform failure into feedback with an auditor’s precision (and keep moving forward)

Data Insights: Victoria Kirk - 3 ways being an outsider sharpened my data instincts (and why it matters today)

Affordable Housing: Katie Goar - How I went from homeless to housing CEO (and why rock bottom was my best launchpad)

Bhuva Shakti

Risk Advisor, Bhuva's Impact Global
In the late 80s, the computer science degree was first offered in India. I was one of the first women to enroll. In the early 90s, the next town was one of the first to offer an all-female school. I was one of the first women to travel to seek out higher education. In the 80s and 90s, the unwritten rule in India was: “it is a waste of time and money to educate women.” I was one of the first women in the community to emigrate to the US. You could call me a “risk-taker.” After a 20 year career on Wall Street, managing risk for clients, I have hung out my own shingle. I have a daughter. I'm teaching her to be a risk taker too.

Katie Goar

President, Quadel
I was homeless at one point in my life. I know intimately, what housing insecurity feels like. Today, I am President at Quadel, working to help housing authorities across the country create safer communities for the younger version of me. Having worked in this industry for nearly three decades, I've seen how a safe home can radically change people's lives.

Natalie White

Legacy Photographer
A beautiful family portrait is missing from my walls. That’s because during my childhood, we never had a single one. Instead, we had what my sisters and I affectionately call our “family mug shots.” These were always taken at the last minute of a family visit, and usually involved my sisters and me in our pajamas, with my grandparents in their coats, on their way out the door — at about 6 am. Now, as an adult, I long for just one beautifully composed family portrait from my childhood — all the people I love most, together, smiling and happy. My grandfather started the tradition of telling bedtime stories about his childhood deep in the Carolina mountains to my mom. To this day, I can still see those stories unfolding in my mind’s eye — almost like a series of photographs. I’ve become known for capturing families in a way that’s unique and meaningful to them. The result is the forging of long-term relationships with clients who become like family.

Victoria Kirk

Executive Director, Customer Insight & Strategy, Connectar Design Strategy
I’m an American living in Britain. I'm raising half-Indian, half-American kids by way of marriage. Viv asked me the other day “What am I?” I thought deeply about my answer to my 7 year old daughter. My answer to her also informs the work I do today. I help companies in finance, technology, healthcare, and manufacturing speak to the minority user of their service or product. Not just the majority. I help companies tailor the message so the minority receives it. Understands it. Buys it. Just as I worked with my daughter that day to help her understand who she is and why people ask those kinds of questions.
