In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized (subject to certain rules and regulations).

Jemimah Ndebele

Entrepreneur, Multimedia Journalist and Presenter

Jemimah Ndebele is a 20-year-old who, at just 18 became the youngest woman of colour to write for the oldest German newspaper on the African continent. A fun fact is that she produced three seasons of the visual podcast Nothing But The T and hosted the Standard Bank Waka Kids Choice Awards, engaging audiences with her vibrant energy. As an alumna of the Afrox Leadership Academy and former City of Windhoek Junior Councillor, Jemimah is passionate about community development and has produced several national television shows focused on soft news while curating social events that celebrate the arts. Currently studying international relations and diplomacy at the University of South Africa, she chose this path over her family's expectations of medical school. Through her TEDx talk, she aims to inspire others to embrace their unique paths and pursue their passions fearlessly.

Ruramisai Sande

Microbiology Student

Ruramisai is a 24-year-old fourth-year microbiology student with a deep passion for science and research. Alongside her studies, she enjoys writing poetry and reading. She is particularly enthusiastic about exploring the intersection of modern scientific innovation and traditional knowledge, especially in agriculture. Growing up as a young African woman, agriculture has always been integral to her life, and her academic journey has deepened her understanding of how science can enhance sustainability. Through her TED Talk, Ruramisai aims to inspire young people to embrace innovation while staying connected to their cultural heritage.

Shepherd Nyambe

Scientist, Innovator and Author

At just 16, Shepherd invented The Shepherd Energy Saver, marking the start of his journey as a young African innovator. He has founded two impactful initiatives: the ShepThyGuru Initiative, a non-profit aimed at bridging the gap between innovators and partners, and ShepThyGuru Energy Sciences, a company dedicated to reducing carbon emissions through green hydrogen and biomass technologies. Shepherd's work has earned him numerous accolades, including the Young Scientist Award at the Regional University Forum (RUFORUM) for his research on the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA). He is also a Future Energy Leader recognized by the World Energy Council, and Namibia’s youngest published researcher. As a political science scholar at the University of Namibia, Shepherd continues to drive policy and innovation, contributing to Africa’s green energy transition.
