TEDx UWCSA is a student-led event at Waterford Kamhlaba, that takes place in line with the international TEDx program, a grassroots initiative of local, independently organized events that bring people together to share in a TED-like experience.

The theme for this year’s event is “Sparking Momentum''. This theme focuses on providing people with new ways of thinking and acting in our world. “Sparking Momentum” refers to the human need to be innovative and to have fulfillment and contentment in life. The talks given by our diverse group of speakers will be supported by their own experiences and the use of examples from different fields to relay to the audience how they have navigated different aspects of their own lives and have led sustainable change in their communities. This year's TEDx event aims to provide a number of different perspectives to the audience on how to start movements and projects that inspire the next generation of young leaders.

Aitana grew up in a small community in Galicia (northwest of Spain), which gave her a unique perspective on resilience, a connection to her land and roots, and a profound appreciation for her language. As a Norwegian activist, her work largely concerns the country’s oil industry, tackling narratives about the greenest, safest money-making-machine there is. In her Talk she will be discussing this, by looking at our polarized society and how to bridge these divides through understanding the world from a biracial perspective.
