TEDx Lakefield College School aims to inspire and motivate students to be change-makers by pursuing their interests and passions. The event will expose students to diverse topics and experiences that will l leave them in awe. The speakers at TEDx Lakefield College School will bring different perspectives that will spark students' curiosity and help them learn more about themselves and the world around them.

Aayaan Jain Singal

Grade 12 student at the University of Toronto Schools
Aayaan Jain Singal is a high school senior at the University of Toronto Schools where he is currently studying to pursue astrophysics and software engineering. These passions came about through postsecondary preparatory opportunities at both John Hopkins and Columbia University respectively. However, he is also active in various other STEM fields, currently engaging in quantum computing research at UofT and an internship with a heart surgeon at St. Michael's hospital in Toronto. In the past, Aayaan has qualified for AIME, attended OFSAA for alpine skiing as team captain, participated in GII, and competed in the World Mathematics Olympiad. He currently lives in Mississauga, Ontario, with his parents and younger brother.

Aniece Wong

Grade 12 student at Lakefield College School
Aniece Wong is a grade 12 student at Lakefield College School where she is actively involved in several leadership roles, including the Student In Charge of Science, Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) club, and recently Jack Chapter's founder. In her free time, she keeps on expanding her knowledge by reading books and taking various courses from Harvard, Yale, UCLA, etc. Aniece is dedicated to making positive changes in her community and firmly believes in the inclusion of all voices. She asserts that each one of us is capable of making a difference by being true to ourselves and standing up for what we think is right.

Ben Lavallée

Grade 12 Student Speaker at Lakefield College School
Ben Lavallée is a Franco-Ontarian student who grew up in Toronto and has been living in the Peterborough area since 2019. Raised in a finance-oriented household, Ben developed a strong interest in finances, leading him to establish and run Lakefield's investment club in grade 11, where he taught students about investing. Alongside his co-curricular pursuits, Ben channeled his entrepreneurial spirit into launching a successful outdoor maintenance side gig, which he grew into a legitimate business through strategic marketing, hard work, and dedication. In addition to his academic and business endeavors, Ben has been a committed athlete, competing on Lakefield’s race teams for both Nordic skiing and cross-country running. Over three seasons of Nordic skiing, he qualified for OFSAA each year and completed three seasons of cross-country running, balancing his athletic commitments with his entrepreneurial and financial passions.

Beverly Crombie Brüggemann

As a contributing best-selling author, speaker and digital marketer, she shares practical wisdom and innovative insights that support leaders in making greater impact. Her foundation in teaching and award-winning entrepreneurial leadership allows her to break down complex concepts into actionable, easy-to-follow strategies that resonate with aspiring business owners and leaders worldwide.

Dr. Kingsley Hurlington

Administrator at KPR School Board & The director for Shad Canada
Dr. Kingsley Hurlington is a teacher in every sense of the word. Teaching is his passion, which is realized in his broad range of experience working with learners from kindergarten to university for over 25 years. Kingsley works as an administrator with Kawartha Pine Ridge District School Board, and a Program Director for Shad Canada. He runs a mentorship support program for youth, and volunteers as a crisis responder with Kids Help Phone. Through his academic work, he hopes to understand better the resilience and mental health of Canadian teens (with a focus on rural teens). He resides in Peterborough, Ontario but dreams of traveling to every nook and cranny of Canada.

Ella Sehn

Grade 10 Student at Lakefield College School
Ella is a passionate young scientist and independent researcher. She is the Principal Investigator for a patent-pending project enhancing the duration and effectiveness of treatment for chronic sinusitis. She is a multi-year medalist at the Canada-Wide Science Fair, most recently receiving a silver medal and the Sanofi Biogeneius Award. She constantly seeks opportunities for learning, leadership, and holistic personal growth. Ella believes that all innovation is built upon simple, yet frequently neglected principles which she will explore in her presentation.

Evelyn Chen

Evelyn is a dedicated student at Lakefield College School with a passion for economics and social justice. While excelling in academics, she has been actively engaged in her school community by serving in multiple leadership roles such as Student in Charge of Service and Co-founding the TEDx Lakefield College School. Evelyn is driven to make a meaningful impact through leadership and sharing her knowledge and passion.

Isaac Eshikaty

Isaac Eshikaty works in our Information Systems department at LCS. Isaac was born and raised in Kenya where he grew up as a military kid and his passion for Aviation started at a young age. Life's many challenges kept it a distant dream until later in life when joy and purpose came into his life through Divine Grace. STEM education and Aviation have been the intersecting elements that Isaac has found the most fulfillment in high school education but also grown in conversations on addressing the fear and anxiety that holds us back from taking bold steps in the direction of our passions."

Jeronimo Santoyo

Grade 12 Student at Lakefield College School
Jero Santoyo is an aspiring leader from Mexico. He was born in Miami but currently lives in Lakefield where he attends Lakefield College School. Currently, Jero serves as a Co-Head Student at Lakefield, a leadership role he was elected to serve the Lakefield community. He is enthusiastic about the idea of leadership and how it can transform the lives of those around him. In his free time, he enjoys playing golf and soccer.

Libby Dalrymple

Director of Thrive & Educator
Libby Dalrymple is a teacher and Director of THRIVE at Lakefield College School. She has undergraduate degrees in Arts and Education - with a focus on Outdoor and Experiential Education. Through the Flourishing Center, she is certified in Applied Positive Psychology and as a Trainer in Positive Education. She is a member of the Board of Friends of Honduran Children. Libby believes in the power of curiosity. She enjoys supporting and encouraging young people to explore the world around them and the world of possibilities that lies within them.

Martin Lesperance

Speaker | Motivator | Engagement Expert.
Martin Lespereance He's worked as an artistic gymnastics coach, a soldier-Medic in the Canadian Armed Forces Reserve, a high-school science teacher, an advisor with the Quebec Government Sports and Leisure Secretariat, a national trainer with Bayer, a national director of training and development with Essilor, he also launched a revolutionary optical product on the Canadian market, and he is certified in performance coaching with LMI.

Micaiah Ejim

Grade 12 student at Lakefield College School
Micaiah Ejim is a 16 year old Lakefield College School Student. She has been a boarding student since her grade 9 year and will be graduating from LCS in June of 2025. Micaiah expresses interest in the fine arts (singing and song composition, acting/film, and dance) as well as interest in other fields such as psychology and linguistics. She is also a poet and professional musician. She loves connecting with people through her art as it has been something she has been passionate about since her earlier years.

Susie Wang is a grade 10 student at Lakefield College School. Susie grew up in the city of Shanghai in China. She is passionate about standing up for what is right and constantly exploring new ways to learn and grow. Whether it's in the classroom or on the field, she thrives on challenges and teamwork. Susie is known for her positivity and leadership. She is a person who is always ready to lend a hand and support her peers. She is determined to stand up for fairness and equality and work hard to achieve her goals. Susie is a firm believer in seizing every opportunity and making the most of each day.

Tony Song

Grade 12 student at The York School
Tony is a Grade 12 IB student at The York School with a strong passion for technology. In his free time, he not only loves to participate in competitions on these subjects but also applies technology to solve real-world problems in various domains. Beyond academics, Tony enjoys music, chess, and basketball. He has founded and led clubs and organizations both in and out of school to inspire others in these fields. Through his TEDx talk, Tony aims to further ignite a passion for technology.
