At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized (subject to certain rules and regulations).

Dr. Ragini Makkad, a passionate Kathak dancer and alumna of the Lucknow Gharana, began her training at age two and a half under Padma Shree Smt. Sitara Devi. She further honed her skills under various esteemed gurus and currently trains with Smt. Shama Bhate and Padma Shree Taalyogi Pt. Suresh Talwalkar. Thirty years ago, she founded Naadyog Gurukul, which has grown to over 400 students. Dr. Makkad emphasizes the holistic development provided by classical dance, benefitting both students and their parents. She uses dance therapy to aid physically and mentally unfit students and has adopted over 150 underprivileged students, offering them free Kathak education. Her current project, Naadyog Gurukul Kalagram, aims to provide affordable, comprehensive Kathak education while preserving the Guru Shishya Parampara tradition, making it the only residential Gurukul in Madhya Pradesh.
