Theme: Radical Reframe

People often become stubborn about their old ways and close-minded to modern ideas, continuously comparing them to what they are comfortable with, thus shutting new ideas down. However, especially in this new day in age, it’s important to reframe those radical views and approaches with an open mind. In other words, how we can reintroduce old wisdom whilst implementing new ideas?

Jody Ono

Development scientist

Ms. Ono, a leadership development specialist and a parent of an 11th grader in Seisen. Throughout her talk, she shares her knowledge about leadership gained through her work with hundreds of individuals in workplaces and classrooms such as Hitotsubashi University and the University of Tokyo. She hopes to guide people to find their own authentic meaning of leadership to be active and purposeful rather than be misled.

Jon Reimer

Teacher

Dr. Jon Reimer is a drama teacher at Seisen whose doctoral thesis examined how visual arts trigger nostalgia. Today, he will be leading the audience through thought exercises and personal anecdotes that will exemplify his research by demonstrating the powerful and critical role of nostalgia in our daily lives.

Joseph Isosaki

Global MedTech Entrepreneur

Joseph Isosaki, a proud Seisen parent, a Global MedTech Entrepreneur focused on advancing surgical robotics for Johnson & Johnson, and a digital influencer and content creator. For the past two years, he’s been connecting with Japanese clinicians, understanding their unmet needs, and leading engineers to progress meaningful innovation. His Talk, the “Art of Dabble” will discuss the value of intellectual curiosity and having a willingness to fully explore new problem spaces.

Kanmani Govindasamy

Ms. Kanmani,is a proud parent of a current grade 12 student at Seisen, a teacher at Cambridge International School in Tokyo and an Advocate of SDGs’ Global Schools Program, Japan. The future of our society rests not only on the advancements of technology but on the values we instill in our children. Today, Ms Kanmani invites us to prioritize familial values and incorporate old teaching into new modern teaching as we guide the younger generation to meaningful social transformation.

Minyoung is an 11th-grade student at Seisen and today, she will be sharing her experiences on letting go of her past beliefs and being open to new ideas. She draws from her own teenage experiences to talk about the concept of the comfort zone, explaining how we can all grow and reach our true potential.

Sajeev Rajaputhra

Chairman of the Rajaputhra Group

Mr. Sajeev Rajaputhra – who is a proud parent of a middle school student here at Seisen, Chairman of the Rajaputhra Group, as well as a St.mary’s alumnus. Today, he will share his insightful reflections on the rapid technological advancements in past years, and will reflect on the implications of these advancements for society, humanity as well as future generations, particularly as a father and as an entrepreneur.

Sophie Keman Chan

Sophie Keman Chen, an 8th grade student at Seisen, who will be sharing her insights on the lesser-known aspects of Kyoto. When we think of Kyoto, images of ancient temples, traditional tea houses, and meticulously crafted gardens often come to mind. However, in her talk, Sophie invites us to explore another facet of Kyoto: its role as a hub for cutting-edge innovation.
