Theme: A Glimpse into Tomorrow

In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized (subject to certain rules and regulations).

Dr. Atta-ur- Rahman

Scientist and Organic Chemist

Atta-ur-Rahman, FRS, FPAS, is a Pakistani scientist specializing in organic chemistry who served as the Chairman of the Higher Education Commission of Pakistan between October 2002 until September 2008 and the Minister for Science and Technology between March 2000 and September 2002. He currently serves as the Co-Chair of the UN Committee on Science, Technology and Innovation for UNESCAP. He is President of Network of Academies of Sciences of Islamic Countries (NASIC), Foreign Fellow of Korean Academy of Sciences, and Foreign Fellow of the Chinese Chemical Society. Prof. Atta-ur-Rahman has won the International Scientific Corporation Award by Chinese Academy of Science (CAS).

Majyd Aziz

President at UN Global Compact Network Pakistan

Majyd Aziz is current President of the U.N. Global Compact Network Pakistan and former President of the Employers Federation of Pakistan. He is also a former President of the Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the largest chamber in Pakistan and among the top ten in the world, as well as former, and first elected President of the South Asian Forum of Employers. He was twice Chairman of SITE Association of Industry, a representative organization of 3000 industries in largest industrial estate of Pakistan. His other businesses include being president of the family-owned MHG Group of Companies and Senior Advisor of the family-owned Sea trade Group of Companies. The Groups are involved in textiles, exports of minerals, imports of coal and commodities, shipping and port services, among other businesses.

Raheel Samsam Ali Khan is a well-known figure in the legal field. He is an Advocate of the High Court, a Partner at Mavens & Co., and a Director at Themis School of Law. He has previously served as a Civil Judge. He is the chairman of YLA Pakistan and Treasurer KBA 2024. In addition to his legal career, he has also contributed to the field of education. Rehan Allahwala

Born in Pakistan, a country of 200 million people, Rehan grew up in an entrepreneurial family. His father instilled in him the value of independence from an early age. At just 8 years old, he began selling candies in his neighborhood. By 10, he was selling stationery to his schoolmates, and at 13, he launched his first company, selling Commodore 64 games. By 16, he was creating modems and voice digitizers, and by the age of 36, he had embarked on 51 different ventures before retiring to teach entrepreneurship online. With the profits from his telecom company, Rehan founded an organization dedicated to helping people realize and achieve their dreams through entrepreneurship. He also established a school aimed at teaching basic literacy to a billion people via mobile phones. All these efforts contribute to his ultimate mission: ending poverty worldwide.

Zainab Effendi-Haqqi

Zainab Effendi-Haqqi completed her LLM in International Corporate Governance and Financial Regulations from the University of Warwick, UK in 2009. She became a High Court Advocate in 2010 and Arbitrator in 2017. She has a passion for teaching and has excelled her career in the academia. She has been teaching Law since she became a High Court Advocate. Committed to her passion, she is currently Assistant Professor at Dadabhoy Institute of Higher Education.
