Theme: Nakshatra

Stars are often not close to each other but due to their alignments and the way they are perceived, they end up forming mesmerizing constellations.

This year at TEDxPICT we aim to bring out these stars from our community that belongs to various backgrounds and fields of work. With a given chance these speakers will shine and gleam with their unique perspectives and approaches. Given that they are all different and unalike each other they still share a common goal of the betterment of our society and together they light up its sky with hope and faith.

So Join us as we explore the wonders of these stars and their place in our world at TEDxPICT Nakshatra.

Anagha Bhat-Behere

Linguistics Professor, Foreign Languages

Dr. Anagha Bhat-Behere is a professor at the Department of Foreign Languages at Savitribai Phule Pune University in Pune. She has a Ph.D. in Russian and has specialised in Linguistics, Lexicology, Translation Studies and Comparative Literature. She founded the journal Kelyane Bhashantar, dedicated to direct translations from foreign languages into Marathi, and served as Chief Editor (2011-2016). She has published several translations of Russian literary works into various Marathi periodicals and compiled a first of its kind trilingual Marathi-Russian-German dictionary. In addition, she has published 4 books individually, 4 books as a co-author and more than 14 articles in national and international journals. She possesses an incredible understanding of Language and how we use it, change it and build our cultures around it.

Bhavna Pandya

Synthetic Biologist, Entrepreneurship

Bhavna Pandya is the Head of the DIY Bio Lab and Coordinator of the Bioincubator, an Entrepreneur, and a passionate biologist. BioRiiDL is India's First DIY bio lab and first bioincubator in the city of Mumbai. She received her Masters degree from K.J. Somaiya College of Science and Commerce in Microbiology from where her entrepreneurial journey started. She is also mentoring projects and startups in the field of biotechnology, food and healthcare. She is also the founder and chief organiser of Darwin India, an International Conference designed to promote the Biohacking Movement in India and to enhance community Bio-labs. Apart from that she has been a Judge at the iGEM Foundation, an independent, non-profit organisation dedicated to the advancement of synthetic biology, education and competition.

Devangana Lashkary

Environmentalist, Conscious Traveller

Devangana Lashkary is an environment researcher. She started working with her State's Forest Department after her post-graduation and currently advises them on varied environmental projects. She also works as an Environmental Researcher in Mumbai and as a Corporate Social Responsibility Consultant where she helps companies and organisations to reduce their carbon footprint and invest in environmental 6y sustainability projects. While in school she used to volunteer at animal health shelters and zoos. This helped develop her interest in Ethology (the study of animal behaviour) and Zoology.

Kalanilayam Center for Dance

Kalanilayam Center for Dance’ is engaged in spreading the essence of Bharatnatyam. They believe that Bharatnatyam is more than just a classical dance form; it is a dynamic, divine art that takes the learner through a subtle spiritual and aesthetic experience. It was founded with the objectives to nurture her passion for Indian Dance and take it further in life, to offer quality training and education of Bharatnatyam to dance students, and to be able to contribute to society through dance

Rasik Pansare

Empathetic Entrepreneurship, Leadership

Rasik is the co-founder and CMO of Get My Parking, an award winning provider of Interoperable Smart Parking Platform connecting all parking and mobility stakeholders on a common platform. Rasik is a PICT and FMS, Delhi alumnus, and has built a supportive and healthy work culture at his startup. He has always been one for leadership, right from starting new clubs in PICT, leading the entrepreneurship cell during his MBA, and building his startup from the bottom-up.

Soubhik Das

Technology, Healthcare, Entrepreneur

Soubhik is the 26 year old CEO of Manastik, a startup aiming to develop a one-stop teleneurology and tele-neurorehabilitation platform catered towards the mental health ecosystem. His startup is building an application for Dementia Diagnosis and Tracking, AI-enables personalised and self-administered assistance in physiotherapy and rehabilitation, and cloud storage of Medical Records. His startup is currently incubated with SIIC IIT Kanpur & BIRAC, and won the BIRAC BIG 19 Grant in Diagnostics.

Vishwajeet Deshmukh

Historian, Attorney

Vishwajeet graduated from Government Law College, Mumbai with a first-class law degree and currently works as an associate consultant at Ernst and Young. Vishwajeet is also an LLM candidate at Harvard Law School. He is a historian of South Asia, primarily researching and writing on the history of minorities focusing on Parsis, Jews and Anglo-Indians and his research has been funded by the 1947 Partition Archive and Tata Trusts Research Grant. He has published articles with Travaux: Berkeley Journal of International Law, Bologna Law Review Italy, Penn Undergraduate Law Journal, JURIST University of Pittsburgh, University of California Merced, World History Encyclopedia and Armstrong Journal of History. He has also been a law clerk with judges at the Bombay High Court and a research assistant to historians from Princeton University, Oxford University and the University of Virginia.
