Navya Riju

Medical Director + Co-founder at EMM.health

Navya is an 18-year-old who is super excited to make an impact in the world. She's worked on projects on stem cells, regenerative medicine and using exponential technologies in the health field. In the past, she has interned at a neurotech startup, consulted for innovation companies and spoken at conferences like WNORTH. She is especially passionate about the global health field, and its intersection with technology. She is currently working on developing a public health program with a team to end maternal mortality in Jigawa, designing the medical curriculum to train birth attendants on misoprostol, maternal and neonatal care. Her team is working with a non-profit organization and the Ministry of Health in Jigawa to pilot in Fall 2021. They have worked with organizations such as the UNFPA, Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation and Amref Health Africa.

Ronald Baecker

Professor of Computer Science

Ron Baecker is an internationally-known author, speaker, and consultant. He is Emeritus Professor of Computer Science, co-founder and Emeritus Director of the Dynamic Graphics Project, and Founder and Emeritus Director of both the Knowledge Media Design Institute (KMDI) and the Technologies for Aging Gracefully lab (TAGlab) at the University of Toronto. He has been named one of the 60 Pioneers of Computer Graphics, has been elected to the CHI (Computers and Human Interaction) Academy, and has been named an ACM Fellow and a Canadian Digital Media Pioneer. He received the CHI Social Impact Award at CHI2020, is the organizer of the virtual community computers-society.org, and was recently appointed an ACM Distinguished Speaker. He is the author of 7 books, including most recently Computers and Society: Modern Perspectives (OUP, 2019), The COVID-19 Solutions Guide: Health, Wealth, Technology, and the Human Spirit (2020), and. Digital Dreams Have Become Nightmares: What We Must Do (2021).
