In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized (subject to certain rules and regulations).

Afreen Ali

Student
Afreen Ali is a 17-year-old living in Qatar. She has been public speaking since the age of 12 and has gone on to participate and win in a number of debate and elocution competitions. Today she runs her own small business and is passionate about all things activism, debate, humour and self-love.

Eva Mathur

Student
Eva Mathur is a grade 12 student studying in Dubai, well known for being an exceptional public speaker, prominent for her role as a delegate and a chair in above 30+ Model UNs with over 15 awards, a poet, an exceptional debater, and someone who is ardent in involving the youth to solving global issues. She has taken part in various volunteering works as well as being part of the UN SDG Global Social Leaders forum. As someone who has constantly been involved in networking with mindsets over the globe, Eva firmly believes in challenging these young minds to tackle issues of the present whilst enhancing advocacy for Diplomacy. She has also been part of teen entrepreneurship competitions and platforms that allowed her to vocalize her passion and need for impacting, inspiring and innovating.

Fatima El Mahdi

Head of thimun Qatar
Fatima first joined the THIMUN team in 2016 after 15 years of teaching in schools around the world, working with schools to build curriculums and collaborating on development projects with NGOs. Fatima has a Bachelors in Mathematics from University College London and a Masters in Gender, Development and Education from the Institute of Education. As the Head of THIMUN Regional Office in Qatar, Fatima plans to grow the THIMUN conference towards Leadership as Service, and to focus on working with organizations around the MENA region and globally to develop impactful action towards achieving the Global Goals. As such, she has trained over 10,000 young leaders through THIMUN Qatar events as well as UN Youth events such as the first-ever UN Youth Commission for Crime and the Prevention of Criminal Justice, UN Youth Crime Congress, UN Youth 4 Climate, UN CoP, and UN Youth ECOSOC.

Hugh Kingham

Hugh Kingham is a 12-year-old student at Newton British School Muraikh. Born in Taiwan, Hugh moved to Qatar when he was 3 years old and has studied in the Newton Group since then. In his free time, he enjoys playing the piano, has passed two exams at the Yamaha Music school and performed a concert there. One day, he hopes to perform internationally to encourage other children and young adults to take up playing the piano to spread joy and love worldwide.

Marie Antoinette Guerrero

Better known as Toni by her peers, Marie Antoinette is an outspoken activist on all matters and movements that are of global concern including Free Palestine, Black Lives Matter, Stop Asian Hate, as well as the Me Too Movement. She channels and shares her ardentness during events and conferences concerning the earth's and its people's well-being through passionate and heated debates in MUN, for which she has won multiple awards. She also has a plethora of talents in the arts, playing the piano, guitar and ukulele, as well as being an outstanding student. Marie Antoinette, despite her namesake, is incredibly loving and doting towards her siblings, family and loved ones. When not burying her nose in a book, Toni can be seen gaming, watching anime or sleeping, because according to her "Everyone needs their beauty sleep to look pretty in a Miata".

Mirna Mitic

Qatar National Women's Basketball Team Coach
Coach Mirna Mitic is an experienced basketball coach and former player from Serbia and Bosnia. She currently coaches the Qatar Women National Team as well as has her own basketball academy (Qatar Girls Basketball Academy) where she trains young girls to improve and develop their skills in basketball to a professional level. Her passion for basketball and teaching makes her loved by the many players that she coaches.

Noora Al-Sulaiti

Student
Noora K Al-Sulaiti is a year 12 student at NIA. She has been a prefect since year 10. She considers herself an aspiring erudite. Her friends often joke about the amount of advice she gives others. She is taking part in Tedx to reach people in a positive way. She loves to joke and have fun. She loves hearing different perspectives.
