Scientists predict that in the next 30-40 years most of the Bay Area will be underwater due to sea level rise and megastorms. How have we allowed this to happen? How do we continue to act carelessly as we watch the ramifications of our inaction? Aria Gerking and Makeda Faxio, current sophomores at College Prep, answer this question by delving into the impediments to individual, corporate, and political action on the fronts of the climate crisis. They will also explore possible ways to overcome mental and systemic barriers to effective climate action.

But amid calls from some politicians to reduce our military commitment to the nation, the question must be posed: What’s at stake in Ukraine? In this talk, current senior William Pirone will dive into the history of, and motivations for, the Russian invasion of Ukraine, while simultaneously taking a step back and examining its implications for the world order— revealing why everyone should care about what happens in Kyiv.
