United Kingdom

In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized (subject to certain rules and regulations).

My name is Matthew Hankin and I am 28 years old. Having previously been a professional rugby player for Saracens, I am now working for a refurbishment company in North London, touching on all trades but specialising in Carpentry. I am also applying for a part time masters in Quantity Surveying to give me the option to transition to a more commercial role within the construction industry at a later date. I left Haileybury in 2011, so I was delighted to be invited to talk at the schools TedxYouth event, through sharing my experience.
