In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized (subject to certain rules and regulations).

Alyssa Hernandez

Ally Hernandez is a 12th grader and actively participates in Comic Club as co-president. Her hobbies include playing video games, creating art, playing piano, and watching cartoons.

Brianna O'Connor

Brianna is an 11th grader who is involved in her Sports Medicine Club and enjoys helping younger students with school activities in her school.

Dabney Standley

Dabney Standley has been a teacher at Sacred Heart Cathedral for 10 years. There he teaches history and computer science, and is the director of the Inquiry and Innovation program. Before joining SHC, Standley worked in a number of both established and start-up companies in the tech sector in various capacities.

Izagani Aquino

As an 11th grader, outside of the classroom, he enjoys playing volleyball, reading history books, competing for his Mock Trial team, running a mock political campaign for his favorite discontinued food court snack.

Jesse Manibusan

Jesse is a composer, singer/songwriter, storyteller, humorist, and encourager. Jesse earned an MA in Multicultural Ministries from Franciscan School of Theology in Berkeley, CA. Jesse's mission is to cultivate the joy and compassion that inspires service, sacrifice and the celebration of life.

Kathryn Booth

Kathryn Booth is a freshman in college, where she is studying clinical/counseling psychology with the hope of becoming a therapist. Outside of her studies, Kathryn is a tireless OCD and mental health advocate, spending much of her time running her Instagram platform, @the_road_to_recovery_from_ocd. She is also a part of "The Activist Collab", a new initiative promoting honest conversations surrounding activism, both as a member of their Youth Advisory Council and Community Growth Team.

Mia Lee

Mia Lee is a senior at SHC who was diagnosed with ADHD her freshman year. Mia. is a successful student-athlete who plays both varsity soccer and lacrosse, is a professional model, and mental health advocate.

Safia Jaleel

Safia explores the effect of accent discrimination, which is a topic that hits close to home as a first-generation American. She is bringing awareness to the bias of accents and how to combat those biases.

Stephan Gartrell

Stefan, a youth pastor and founder of a non-profit, faith-based youth mentorship program, is committed to and driven by empowering youth to reach beyond their circumstance and believe that there is an intentional plan for their life. In his talk, Stefan examines the importance of influence and inspiring others to be the influential leaders of tomorrow.
