In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized (subject to certain rules and regulations).

Eiichi Omura

A former member of Japanese national team for competitive aerobics,Executive director at approved corporation engaging in specified non-profit activities Japan IDDM network
Eiichi Omura started competitive aerobics because of his mother at the age of 4. When he was 8, he developed type 1 diabetes that needs a shot of insulin every day. When he was a high school student, he became junior world champion for competitive aerobics. He retired from competitive aerobics when Kumamoto earthquake occurred. He makes an effort to promote and develop aerobics by teaching exercise at provisional housing, commenting at competition and fostering young people. Now he appears and participates in events as a performer and put a great deal of effort in educational activities through lecture and in research support aiming for eradication of type 1 diabetes.

KC Choir

Gospel group
The 6th year of started as KC Choir, Gospel team composed of 20 people gathered who are different age and jobs. we have desire to revive Kumamoto with songs. Performing local festival, weddings, nursing home and hospital consolation, famous artist’s back chorus, CM songs etc. The theme of KC Choir is “Smile” and “energetic ” .

Koshin Arata

ONE PEDAL adviser
When Koshin Arata was 33, he quit his office job and launched a sales of agricultural material business. When he was 45, he had to have his right leg amputated because of illness and began to wear prosthetic limb on the right leg. Through that, he gained employment with Naruse Machinery Co.,Ltd. He makes use of his experience as a physically challenged and is busy going here and there every day spreading “one pedal”. “One pedal” is very useful for the disabled (mainly right leg-disabled people) to restart driving a car and for senior drivers to prevent traffic accident that is a social issue.

Megumi Tange

SHOKUTAKU photographer, nutritionist
While involved in the world of "the meal", she though that she want to convey the importance of "the meal" through her hobby camera, and starts the activity as a photographer. A meal of special day, daily meal at home, laughing, crying... There is none to be same and it has been changing. The moment of ordinary daily life is a now or never moment which we can an irreplace thing. If my photograph catches the irreplaceable moment of someone, it will be the opportunity to cherish the "now".

Norika Narimatu

Kumamoto Prefectural Uto Senior High School, 3rd grader
Since the 3rd grade of a Junior high school, she has belonged to physics team in science club. 6 years ago, a member of club found that there was another subimage, which was different image from the real one, in the convex lens. And that research has been conducted by 23 present members of the club. She set up a hypothesis, “Whether Insects See Anomalous Images Located Near a Lens or Not? “ She joined to Intel International Science and Engineering Fair as a representative of Japan which held in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, United States in May 2018. She is one of the super students that won the prize of 4th award in Physics and Astronomy.

Toshirou Inaba

Associate Professor, Department of Cardiology, University Hospital, School of Medicine, University of Tokyo. At the University of Tokyo Hospital specializes in catheter treatment that treats the heart medically and congenital heart disease. Carrying out home health care by visiting once a week, and also engaged in mountain medical treatment in the summer (Director of Mountain Department, University of Tokyo). For soil building to the harmony with the medical care of diversity, cultivate traditional medicine not only Western medicine, complementary and alternative medicine, also private health widely. In the wake of the Great East Japan Earthquake of 2011, in order to medical causes the emergence of the all areas, begin the activities across a variety of fields. He propose the future medical care and society.

Yasunaga Ogita

Polar explorer
He has been on solo expeditions mainly in the Canadian Arctic Circle, Greenland, and the Arctic Ocean. Spanning 18 years from 2000 to 2017, he has been to the Arctic 15 times with more than 9,000 km covered throughout the Arctic region. In 2018, January, he is the first Japanese adventurer who reached the South Pole Solo Unsupported. He received the 22nd Naomi Uemura adventure award.
