In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized (subject to certain rules and regulations).

Euan Barrett

Euan is a 14-year-old ukuleleist living in Essex. He loves to express himself in any way he can, and is ready to take a huge leap of faith by stepping onto the TEDxYouth@Harlow stage.

Fiza Asif

Fiza is 11. You’d think ‘what background could an 11 year old possible have?’, and you’d almost be right. Fiza is simply a smart girl from Harlow with a mindset that encourage her to explore new opportunities and people, learn skills in unexpected areas as well as focus on the core and show consistency in her actions we’d all be proud of. Show me another 11 year old focused on exploring the roles of gender in the science fields.

Jamie Lee Grant

Jamie Lee is passionate about making a difference and is really looking forward to performing for other young people at TEDxYouth@Harlow.

Jenk Oz

Jenk is 11, and is an all round professional performer from acting & presenting to modelling and music. He has gained a place at the Juilliard School for Performing Arts and the National Youth Musical Theatre for their summer productions. Away from the limelight, Jenk is was also named the ‘UK’s youngest CEO’ by BusinessAdvice.co.uk and one of the ‘20 Young Entrepreneurs To Watch in 2017’ by Startups magazine. He runs iCoolKid Ltd which is an online lifestyle content creator and publisher that focuses on Gen Z. Jenk was recently featured in an article on the Evening Standard website!

Katelyn Darrow

Katelyn's mission is to give a hand up to those in need by providing clothing, food, pet food, toiletries, healthy snack bags for kids in need and more for free to those struggling financially. The clothing closet is set up in a storefront where those in need can shop at no cost. She started her mission July 2009 at just 12-years-old, and has provided clothing to over 30,000 families since opening. Katelyn wants to relieve financial stress from families by providing necessities such as clothing, food and toiletries. Katelyn works with social services, homeless shelters and community leaders who refer clients to Angels of God (www.angelsofgod.org).
​ The clients are invited to come into the clothing closet storefront and go “shopping” at no cost. Katelyn knows from personal experience that it can be difficult to keep your dignity in tough times. Sometimes, something as simple as a new outfit can put a smile on one’s face and make them feel beautiful. Katelyn says she will never forget the compassion and kindness that was shown.Giving back is her way of paying it forward. Never underestimate the difference one person can make.

Katie Randall

Katie a performer, a musician, and artist and above all, a super conscious young lady. She doesn’t just run, she raises money for charity, she doesn’t just enjoy theatre, but thrives from creating productions that face real issues. To be her best self, in order to create the most positive change on her environment and her future, Katie wants to talk about how this works.

Laila Mafemba

Raised in Birmingham, Laila has grown up in a diverse community and from a young age has developed a humanitarian led outlook on life. Her achievements include organising multiple fundraisers for HIV/AIDS sufferers and her passion for politics has taken her to the Houses of Parliament representing her town of Erdington.

Maisie Hicks

Maisie has been in love with music since a young child and spends most of her time either learning music or composing her own. She wants to share her passion and through TedxYouth@Harlow and give the world an insight into her love for music.

Maria Omer

Maria is possibly one of the most conscious young people you’ve come across in a very long time. She’s grown up speaking three languages, and her desire to understand and educate herself in political affairs as well as global cultures is clearly evident. Maria wants to highlight the plight of many in the current global refugee crisis and give her take on what can/should be done. A perspective you’ll not want to miss.

Michael Morris

Michael is 13, and succeeds in emanating a passion to get involved in life that the rest of us merely consider for a few seconds. He’s an active part of the community taking part in extra curricular activities in and outside of school. A growing collection of trophies and medals and a growing confidence that he can achieve what he sets his mind to. This bright young spark wants to share his experience of the world around him and we can’t wait to hear it.

Nikhia Cook

A strong young lady aspiring to become the best version of herself. Nikhia is an academic girl whose interests include anything that makes her brain tick. Her hunger for information and development defines her drive to understand who we are as humans and how we progress on an individual basis.

Paige Coney-Shaw

A dancer, a student, a teacher and a leader; Paige is making her way through the ballet ranks whilst making her way through the life of a teenage girl. Focused on accomplishing and exceeding her potential, it wouldn’t surprise us to see Paige on a famous stage in the next few years.

Rosa Goodwin-Drewett

For Rosa, music is not just a hobby, but an influence and a support. She first got up on stage at 3 years old when pulled up by her father – albeit with her teddy. Since then she’s fed off of that musical energy as she moves through her life.

Rosie Carter

A musician (Grade 1 Piano player), a member of the gifted and talented group, a performer and an explorer. Her drive for discovery is not limited to the physical world, and her experiences have led her to focus on understanding equality and the treatment of others.

Sameed Shariq

Polar opposites? Sameed has had an interesting upbringing, the first 9 years spent in Pakistan, the next 8 in England, and this has impacted significantly on his understanding of himself, his beliefs and outlook. He is often occupied wondering how his life would be different if he hadn’t experience either one of those societies. A super talented young man with a brain full of perspective.

Sophia Tsouvallaris

Sophia’s passion is singing. Although her hobbies include Ballroom Dancing, and Latin American, she remains focused on gaining a career in music. From Greek Cypriot origin, Sophia is a proud and dedicated young lady who will be taking the stage at TedxYouth@Harlow.

Will Tennison

William Tennison is a new age youth politician. He doesn’t want to be Prime Minister, he wants to be the opposition and he wants to change things up. His achievements include running a campaign against child labour in 2015 and now in the murky world of politics, plans to stand as a local councillor in the 2018 elections.

Ziad Ahmed

A rising star since the age of 14, Ziad has been breaking barriers with his entrepreneurship and ambition to promote equality and campaign against injustice. He has founded two companies; a youth social media consultancy which helps brand understand the ever dynamic generation Z, and Redefy.org which promotes equality and raises the awareness of injustice. His successes have led to features on MTV & Business Insider amongst many more.
