In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized (subject to certain rules and regulations).

Amy Blackmore

Amy Blackmore is the Executive and Artistic Director of MainLine Theatre, the St-Ambroise Montreal FRINGE Festival and the MainLine Gallery. She is also one of the co-founders and the Artistic Director of the Bouge d'ici Dance Festival. Known for her versatility, Amy has over 15 years of experience working in arts and culture. She is currently the President of the Quebec Drama Federaion board of directors and sits on the new artistic practices / multidisciplinary jury for the Conseil des arts de Montréal.

Nayem Alam

In 2014, Nayem created the first-ever spoken word/slam poetry competition in his school board, entitled, “Speak Up Montreal!” This competition allowed students from all over Montreal to express themselves. After being bullied for his weight, Nayem saw an opportunity for him and others to speak up on this issue. Speak Up Montreal has inspired students across Montreal to enjoy what they do, without thinking about others judging them. For his efforts in leading this movement, Nayem received the Governor General Award for Leadership. Besides his work with Speak Up Montreal, Nayem has also developed numerous innovative projects including a web tutorial blog to teach different aspects of technology.
