In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized (subject to certain rules and regulations).

Audrey Cross

I am passionate about food systems. I see food as a way that I can make meaningful difference in the world, because food systems affect everyone. Systems thinking is messy and complex, but that is what I love about it. I have been a student organizer with the Real Food Challenge at the University of Maine for two and a half years. In that time, I have been building relationships as a way to gain understanding of what's going on in the food system and how I can help make it better. Through the Real Food Challenge, I've been working with students and community members to try to get the University of Maine to commit to engaging students and stakeholders in procuring more "real food" (that which is local, humane, fair, and ecologically sound), with a goal of 20% "Real Food" by 2020.

Cain Landry

I am a senior music major originally from Saco, ME. I work for both the Honors college as a course facilitator and for the Green Campus Initiative. I am involved in many clubs and groups on campus – Green Team, Maine Students for Climate Justice, Vegan Education and Empowerment Coalition, University Singers, Brass Ensemble, Chamber Music Ensemble, and Euphony (off campus). In the Fall I will be attending graduate school for environmental studies. My interests include singing, hiking, dancing, writing poetry, reading, meditating, and social/environmental activism.

Dale Winslow

My name is Dale Winslow, I'm an undergrad at UMaine, and I am from Presque Isle, Maine. I am an educational YouTuber with over 93,000 subscribers and 5 million views. My YouTube channel is named "Think Fact" and it is there where I discuss complex questions typically dealing with the human experience. I mainly focus around Anthropological topics discussing questions like (e.g.) "Who Own's English?" or "Are We The Only Humans?" while occasionally making videos that discuss obscure information that I have come across in my research. Personally, I love to challenge myself by thinking about questions people don't often ask or get an answer for. As a result, I find myself moving into the realm of making videos over big and complex questions that I'm really interested in sharing!

Maria Teressa Paniagua

My name is Teresa Paniagua, I’m an international Student from Paraguay. I am an environmental engineering major back home and I am studying environmental science related subjects on Campus. I am part of a program called Undergraduate Exchange Program that works with the US State Department to bring the American education experience for people of different cultures. I am an amateur photographer and I am very interested in education and activism.

Merissa Jordan

I am a 4th year at the University of Maine. I am studying Music Education with a minor in Psychology and I hope to one day get my Master's in Music Therapy and start my own therapy business that I can take with me across the state of Maine and possibly over seas to Army, Navy, Air Force bases. I have been involved with music since I was a little kid, and it has always been my passion.I think that my success as a person in school and life speaks volumes for my character and drive. I know this is very short and very personal to speak about this, but I also know that it is something I will live with for the rest of my life.

Stanley Small

I am a first year Mechanical Engineer enrolled in the Honors College. I am also pursuing a mathematics minor. I was born and raised in the Hampden, ME area and I enjoy exploring the Maine wilderness, playing tennis and chess, and reading.
