We had an inspired salon mixing language and art at Sfeir-Semler Gallery on Wednesday, June 11.
The running exhibition by Mounira El Solh’s All Mother Tongues Are Difficult became part of our inspiration for this salon and its theme #justsayin’
In addition to the pre-recorded TED talks we screened, and the activities and discussions we had live, we also had a heartfelt conversation about the Arabic language with TEDxBeirut speaker Suzanne Talhouk, and Lukas Rueegger, a native Swiss who learned to speak Lebanese Arabic when he moved here 2 years ago, and got pretty good at it.
During the salon, we have started tweeting a thriller for TEDxBeirut with #TxBwhodunit. The story continues on Twitter and we’re piecing together a plot based on the attendees tweets. Will the killer roam free, ready to strike again? Will the detective find clues to solve the murder? Find the story @TEDxBeirut with #TxBwhodunit
